How To Do Hair - Easy French Braid

by Candace Right

Although it looks really complicated, it's actually quite easy to learn how to do hair in a French braid. The first step is to get all the tangles out of your hair by brushing it. Then you slick on some mousse or a holding gel. You'll want that gel to help keep your hair in place as you work with it.

Now you'll need to take a section of hair from the front, where the bangs are (or where they would be). You're focusing on the section of your hair that goes from temple to temple, or right above the ear line.

Separate the section into three even pieces. Start by braiding the right section over the middle section. Since you don't want any hair slipping out of your grasp, hold on tight to the braid.

Then, braid the left section over the middle section. When you're learning how to do hair in a French braid, you can keep a spritz bottle of water next to you in case the hair dries out some. Handling wet rather than dry hair is so much easier.

Next, you will use a comb to take more hair from the head on the left side. The strip of hair you take should be about an inch or from the temple down. This gets added with the left section.

Now you should do the same for the right side. Afterwards, you will braid the right segment of hair over the middle segment. After that, braid the left section over the middle section.

Continue in this way with braiding and adding new strips of hair until you finally reach the base of your head. To finish it all off, you'll braid the loose sections of hair just like a normal braid.

Now you can tie it in place with a pony tail holder or a ribbon. Learning how to do hair in a French braid is easy if you practice. Soon it will be like second nature, even if you don't necessarily get it right the first time.
