When buying an option contract you are not purchasing anything at all. It is an agreement stating that at a future time and cost you may have an option to purchase this share. This allows for flexibility in your purchases. You have the option to never buy it if you so desire.

Trading options has been a profitable activity for many people. All investment decisions involve some element of risk, as it is impossible to make easy money if you refuse to take on any risk.
