Out the whole strategy, building positions forms a very significant part of any stock trading strategy. Depending upon the individual's interests in the market, the strategies and options may differ. For instance, if you are not interested in market and trade then it may form a crucial part of your strategy but contrary to this, you may need other options as well.

Beyond excitement, which other strategies certainly provide, you also need to implement other strategies such as option trading to supercharge your return. Adding such an option strategy can help you profit in all sorts of markets and can provide the diversity and small bet making ability you need to capitalize on moves that you do not feel comfortable making huge stock bets on.

If you have evolved beyond the buy and hold strategies of the past, then you will want to be involved in option trading. You may even be ready for commodities trading or foreign exchange trading. If you simply want to use options to supplement your stock trades then an excellent way to go is to use option trading to provide you with a security net on your actual stock trades. This is an incredibly low risk way of using options and it allows you to define your risk in any trade. By placing downside put trades you are giving yourself the ability to protect yourself should a stock fall below a certain threshold. You can also make income off your stock positions by selling out of the money calls on your position.

After you have mastered the art of trading options for the purpose of insurance you may want to start using them as a speculative item. Using them in this way lets you place multiple small bets and profit enormously from short-term moves in the market. If you suspect a merger is in the works or some other big piece of news is developing with a company then you can spend a relatively small amount of money on options to make enormous profits.

If you are new to the markets then you may not be aware of all the tools that are available to you. With the right knowledge and skill set, you can make money in any kind of market. Options are the easiest way to make a lot of money by taking advantage of leverage in an up or a down market.

Many parties tout the virtues of buy and hold investing because historically it has worked well at delivering consistent returns. Building positions remains an important part of any trading strategy but it shouldn't form your whole strategy. An option strategy can help you profit in all sorts of markets and can provide diversity and small bet making ability. If you enjoy keeping track of technical data and charts like the MACD indicator then you'll want to pursue option trading and possibly even commodity trading. People who know about stocks should expand their investment options.
