Gift Baskets: Think Outside The Basket
A gift basket can be a well appreciated and cherished gift on occasions of birthday, anniversary or for any other special occasion. A gift basket can be a container, or even a real basket, full of various related items. Gift baskets come with a variety of container options, filling options, and wrapping options.
Although the name contains the word "basket", the container need not be a basket. For example, a child might appreciate beach supplies (like a shovel, a towel, sunscreen, etc..) much more if they were to be packed inside a large bucket which can also be used on the beach. Another good idea, would be a plastic crate for a college student or a fashionable and useful bag.
Ideally a gift basket will contain several related items. As an example, a basket containing a nice bottle of wine, chocolates and a pair of champagne glasses would make a good anniversary gift. Thus, the contents of the basket can be used in conjunction with each other, and this makes the basket more cohesive overall.
There are many types of occasions for which a gift basket would be appropriate. Appreciation gifts can include fine soaps and lotions, along with a massage or manicure certificate for a woman, or cologne and nice cufflinks and tie tacks for a man. A graduation basket can be a plastic crate containing school supplies, stamps, quarters, and bed linens. Newlyweds might appreciate a picnic basket full of durable plates and cups, a cooler for food, and a blanket for picnicking.
These baskets are suitable for other occasions as well. You could present a sick colleague with a "get well soon" basket, filled with items to make their convalescence more comfortable, and accompanied by a nice card. You could thrill any children you know with a "winter break" basket, containing items for creating a snowman, and hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. Even a condolence basket can be constructed, with special pictures and memories, to present to those who have lost a loved one.
You need to also consider how the basket is presented. While things could be just thrown haphazardly into a basket, if you take the time to arrange it carefully, the person receiving it will appreciate the time you took. Tissue paper or "Easter grass" can be used in the bottom of the basket to hold different objects in place, as well as adding a touch of cheer. A bow is the perfect way to top it off.
A very versatile example of gifts are baskets full of goodies. A good gift basket can be made up of many different items, such as practical supplies or extravagant presents. What you put into the basket depends on what the occasion is. For an anniversary gift, for example, you might include fine chocolates and wine. The basket itself and the packaging you use should also enhance the gift. If you choose the appropriate items for the right occasion, they will make wonderful and memorable appreciation gifts. Someday you may even find yourself the recipient of one.
